Lumbar Flexion Distraction

Lumbar flexion distraction (F and D) is a form of chiropractic adjustment of the lumbar spine. It can help increase the height of the discs, decrease pressure in the discs, and to remove distortions within the tissues in the disc. F and D works to restore proper movement in the low back joints. This usually results in improved posture and reduced pain.

When a patient gets F and D, they lay face down on the table. The table used for F and D has a hinge around your waist, so that the table can bend which helps the doctor to stretch out your back and adjust the tissues and joints. The doctor will flex the table while also applying a pressure to your back. Patients usually describe the feeling of F and D as a deep stretch, and say that it feels really good.
